SS16’S Sole Sensations

Architectural design, the pointed
toe, gingham, wicker and fruity prints…these are the shoes we’re buzzing about
this summer. After days of analysing each and every SS16 fashion show, Fashion
Killer has picked out the crème of the crop, and taken the best runway trends,
to provide you beauties with high-street alternatives to help you get the best
footing this season.

Nothing pops like yellow. This
season, there were yellow mules from the likes of Gucci and
yellow slingback heels from Dolce and Gabbana…just to name a few who went
crazy for yellow. Whether it’s snakeskin or suede, why don’t you step into
Summer with a pop of colour?! These lace up heels in yellow faux suede, from
Public Desire, make the perfect addition to any casual outfit. Throw on a pair
of jeans, a white tee, and your ready to go! If you’re not a fan of the super
heel, try out these dainty ASOS Sinead lace up heels, or recreate the infamous SS14
Valentino rockstud shoes with these dupes from ASOS. However you decide to rock it, spice up your life with a pop of yellow!

The pointed toe was one of the most
prevailing designs seen on the runway this season; from Dior, Givenchy, Proenza
Schouler and Marc Jacobs – nearly every other model had on a pointed toe. If
your bank account is a little bit like mine and can’t take on a loss of £500+
for a pair of heels, I’ve got you! For the pointed toe and a touch of comfort, try these leather
mule shoes from Zara, they may not be a pair of Dior buckle, pointed toe shoes,
but they are super cute! Or rock these show stopping ASOS Penalty pointed high heels that will have your feet catching everyones’ eye.

When it came to eye catching shoes
on the runway, the likes of Alexandra Wang, Parada, Tory Burch, and many others,
graced the runway with architectural designs that blew even those in the back
row away! From sculptural lines to bright electric colours many of the best
designers went against the conventional shapes and styles of what a shoe
usually looks like. Making this trend appropriate for my unorthodox girls who
like to make a statement! Jeffrey Campbell has not only pulled it out of the
bag once, but twice. When it comes to unconventional shapes and styles, these
Olenna Leather Point Heeled Mules and Studded Suede Clear Heeled Shoes are
everything the so not ‘girl next door’ material girl needs! But if you aren’t prepared to
spend £100+ for a pair of bad boy shoes, fear not, I got you sis! Maybe these
Nasty Gal Fit to Kill Strappy Heels will get your approval?

Prints, prints, prints galore!
This season, the runway went mad for gingham, fruity and wicker prints, with
the likes of Miu Miu, J. Crew, Chanel, and others,
taking the prints from clothes to shoes. For cheaper alternatives I had to turn to one of my favourite online stores, ASOS, whether you opt for their Portia pointed high heels,
Salon Heroism embellished heeled sandals (which aren’t really print, but I just had to add them in) or their fun Hot Springs Platform Sandals. I can’t get enough of each of these, and there are so many others just
as amazing or more on the high-street and other online stores! You just need to go hunting for them…

Mules are another one of my favourite
trends taken from the runway! With the likes of Hugo Boss, Reem Acra, Fausto
Puglisi and Gucci gracing the runway with some of the best mules, high-street stores and following suit and mules are being seen on the feet of every IT girl. So who needs designer mules,
when the high-street and online stores are providing phenomenal dupes and
alternatives? No one! I love these orange mules with mirror heels from New Look, (currently on my ‘to buy list’) and for those aren’t into the heights, these
Jeffrey Campbell Beaton Suede Heel are just as gorgeous – and probably a lot less painful towards the end of the night – and for a more gothic
style, check out these ASOS lace up mules, which are currently on sale – so hurry there’s only a limited supply available!

I didn’t cover every trend and there are so many other trends you
could be rocking this season; whether that be the sliders, modern day
gladiators, buckled up shoes, embellished shoes or 21st century wild
west…to name the few! But whatever you decide to slip on or lace yourself into this
season, walk with complete sass and confidence.

Side note: If you are wearing heels
as big as my dreams and goals, carry a pair of comfortable AND cute flats –
nobody looks fierce walking uncomfortably in heels or bare feet with their
heels in their hands. That’s an absolute no-no ladies!
