Quarantine self-love: the app taking sexual pleasure to new heights
If you need a quick, minimal effort climax or doing that all too familiar, procast-urbating (masturbating as a form of procrastination), Dipsea may not be the app for you. I’d suggest the clitoral stimulator everyone keeps going on about.
But for those of us who are yet to own the creme de la creme of sex toys, or just need a break from the buzzing stuff. Dipsea might be just what you need in a time of self-isolating.
Described as an app to get you in the mood, spark your imagination and connect with your sexual self, the women designed app is filled with short, sexy audio stories. Ranging from five to 20-minute long audio, Dipsea is can either kickstart the fire for partnered fun or send your solo play to new heights.
But how does this differ from the readily available pornography already on the internet? Co-founder, Gina Gutierrez recalls of one night where she was listening to the Headspace podcast and thought, this is it: “It’s super sensory, it makes you feel something, you feel something, you feel better after you listen. It’s not just about the listening – it’s about what happens afterwards. You feel relaxed, you feel more connected to your body”, she told The Guardian.
Inspired by that experience, Gutierrez and Faye Keegan created Dipsea. Releasing erotic stories that excite and send their listeners on a sensory experiment that forces them to use their own imagination.

No matter what your thing is, Dipsea has you covered. From queer to group, vacation, exes, friends, BDSM, and everything in between related stories; the variety of audio to chose from to get that premium nut (in the words of FlexMami) is endless. And just like Headspace, the chance to exercise your sensuality through guided audio is available.
So, after discovering the app through a friend’s Instagram story, I decided to test it out for myself. Rather than opting for one of the stories, I chose the ‘self-love sesh’, a solo erotic exercise that forces you to slow down and reconnect with your body. Did it end in the big O? Yes. Would I use the app again? Yes. And would I recommend the app? Yes. Let’s have some fun, we’ve got some time on our hands.
