Velvet Skin Inc. through the eyes of the founder
As anyone who has ever rubbed shoulders with me will know, beauty and skincare is my native tongue (probably even coming before English)! Writing for my beauty blog – “The Skintellect” – for over 4 years, I would like to think that I am well-versed in everything and anything to do with beauty. From ingredients and product formulations to packaging and usability, I feel like I have garnered a wide knowledge of the ever-expanding beauty market. Hubris, yes, probably – but what can I say, I’ve found what drives me! So, in 2018, I wanted to start a new chapter and really apply what I had learnt over the past few years and put it to practical use through the production of an actual beauty product. Velvet Skin Inc. came about as a by-product from my Final Major Project at university and something I decided to pursue further and build into the fully-functioning brand that it is today.
The aim of Velvet Skin Inc. as a brand is to fill a gap in the market for clean and natural skincare which is available to all as opposed to the profusion of luxury skincare products which already dominates the beauty industry. At Velvet Skin Inc. we (sorry, I’m not using the royal “we” for any other reason than I just want to be inclusive!) want to break down the stigma that clean beauty is less effective than major pharmaceutical scientifically and clinically-tested skincare. There is an on-going debate over this subject, but my point of view is decided. By starting Velvet Skin Inc. I wanted to create luxurious beauty products that are accessible for everyone, everywhere- no matter your age, gender or skin type. Our product offering includes a beauty oil range called ‘The Marble Collection’, which is made up of 6 multi-purpose beauty oils, one for every skin type and every individual. We believe in the power of oils; in fact, we are oil mad. We only use ingredients derived from plants, flowers and seeds that will directly benefit the skin and that you would naturally want your body to ingest- that’s why we pride ourselves on being 100% botanical, vegan and cruelty-free. We also pride ourselves on being minimalistic. We offer minimalist products without being over-priced, over-packaged and overly-complicated to use. We have also chosen to sell our products at a lower, more inclusive and accessible price of £12.50 per bottle to attract the millennial consumer. Velvet Skin Inc. will act as an essential stepping-stone for millennials who wish to transition from clinical/scientific skincare to clean, minimal skincare with only the need for one multi-purpose product that is tailored to their specific skin type.
As a new beauty brand, we believe in total transparency when it comes to skincare. Everyone who buys into the brand deserves to know exactly what is in their products. Therefore, we aim to do this without the complexities of added ingredients: we use 5 key organic ingredients or fewer inside every product to assure you that minimalism is the key to your skin’s happiness.
As we welcome in the new year, we are taking steps to grow our product offering and will be launching 2 new very special products in due course, so watch this space!
